SADC Civil Society Forum

The Africa We Want Project participated in the SADC Civil Society Forum in Dar Es Salaam, where the project also arranged a Thematic Café. The forum provided an opportunity to galvanise and unify the voice of civil society around key strategic issues affecting the region. Organisations underscored the importance of AU member states to sign and ratify the ACDEG as a concrete tool to hold their governments accountable. Here, especially the government of Tanzania, still refusing to sign the charter, was called upon by the General Secretary of the SADC CNGO stating that no matter questions of loss of sovereignty: “A violation of a right, is a violation of a right”.
