Freedom of speech is a central part of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance. Journalism and the critical voices in civic space is under pressure in a variety of ways, but the ACDEG powers the fight against this shrinking political space. Njenje Chizu's struggles as a Zambian journalist is a clear example of this fight.
